Become even more visible with a complete Business Profile
What Is a Google Business Profile?
A Google Business Profile, formerly called Google My Business, is a Google tool with which you can highlight your business and some important information. When users are looking for your company in Google, your profile will appear in a box in the top right corner of the SERP. And your business will also be added to Google Maps, for additional visibility. A feature like that is really valuable to any business, but how do you even get started with making a Google Business Profile?
Business Profile Fucntionalities
As is the case for all Google services, the Business Profile is also constantly evolving. Which means that there are new functionalities being added regularly. To give you a good idea of what you can do with a Business Profile, we compiled a list of new (and less new) functionalities.
Share Important Information
Just like when it was still called Google My Business, you can use your Business profile to share important information about your company. Add your phone number, email address, business hours, and location so your clients know exactly how to contact you.
Add a Personal Touch to Your Profile
Show who you are and what your business stands for by adding some personal touches to your profile. Add photos, a cover image, your logo, some unique characteristics, and other useful information. The more you dress it up, the more your profile will stand out to customers.
Create Posts, Offers, and Events
Similarly to social media, you can now also create posts, offers, and events on your Business Profile. Those posts will be clearly displayed on your profile for all Google users to see. Do you have a temporary promotion? Or looking to highlight a new product? This feature is perfect for that!
Collect and React to Reviews
Your customers can leave reviews about their experience with your products or services. They can give you a score out of 5 and add an explanation to shed some light on their review. As the owner, you can also react to all reviews to gain customers’ trust.
Respond to Frequently Asked Questions
Another useful feature, which will save you a lot of time in the long run, is the frequently asked questions section. This is a great way to give customers an overview of important information about your business. Add questions and provide comprehensive answers, or let your customers respond to them.
Highlight Your Services
Doesn’t matter what kind of business you have, whether it’s a restaurant, a shop, or something else entirely, you can highlight your services by adding buttons. With those buttons, customers can order a product, make a reservation, and more, without having to leave your Business Profile. Isn’t that great?
Check, Analyse, and Improve Your Business Profile
It just wouldn’t be Google if you couldn’t check up on your performance. So naturally, your Business Profile also collects user information. For example, which keywords they use to look for your profile, how many phone calls or appointments were made, what reviews were left, and so on.
How to Take Full Advantage of Your Business Profile
You now know what a Google Business Profile is, and how you can set it up, but that’s not all there is to it! We’ll share a few important points to keep in mind when managing your profile.
Handling Bad Reviews
Positive reviews boost conversion, but a few bad ones are hard to avoid. It is then important that your handle them quickly and correctly. But how? As a business, you should respond to all customer complaints. Clear, customer-focused communication is key here. If you want to win that customer over again, you could even add an exclusive promotion, like a voucher for a free service. And even if that doesn’t win the customer back, any future customers can see that you go above and beyond to resolve any issues.
Add Relevant Images
A picture is worth a thousand words. Which means it’s important to use the right pictures on your Business Profile. But it can be hard to find images that fit with your company, so we’ll give you a few tips to help you along.
- Avoid stock images
- Use realistic pictures
- Add a personal touch by including employees, pictures of your office or workplace
Use Important Keywords
Your Google Business Profile will perform best if you complete it with as much information as you can, and include your most important keywords. This will explain to Google what exactly it is you do.
Update Your Profile Regularly
One of the most important things to keep in mind, is that your Google Business Profile should always be up to date and match information on your website and social media profiles. So remember to regularly check if all information, like business hours, location, and pictures, is still correct.
