2. Which data we may process

Depending on how you use the website, we may process the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact and content data that you fill in yourself (e.g. name, email address, telephone number, message content).
  • Technical data that automatically accompany your visit (e.g. IP address, browser and device information, page URL, referrer). This may contain personal data.
  • Cookie/consent data (e.g. your cookie preferences).
  • Advertising and conversion data (e.g. a conversion event “contact request”) when you accept marketing cookies (see §7.4).

3. Why we process data (purposes)

We process personal data only when there is a purpose and legal basis for doing so, for example:

  • Contact and follow-up of questions/requests that you submit yourself.
  • Security and prevention of abuse (e.g. spam detection on forms).
  • Website analysis to improve the website (e.g. via Fathom, see §7.3).
  • Advertising and conversion measurement (e.g. Google Ads, see §7.4) – only if you give consent for this via the cookie banner.

4. Legal bases

Depending on the purpose, we rely on one or more of these legal bases:

  • Consent (e.g. marketing cookies/advertising measurement).
  • Necessary for the performance of an agreement or pre-contractual steps (e.g. handling your request).
  • Legitimate interest (e.g. basic security of the website), whereby we always perform a balancing test.

5. With whom we share data

We do not sell your personal data. We only share data when this is necessary for the functioning of the website or our services, and preferably with parties acting as processors on our behalf (with appropriate agreements).

Which parties these are exactly depends on the modules active on this site (see §7).

6. Retention periods

We do not retain personal data longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, taking into account legal retention obligations.

Guidelines (may vary per site):

  • Contact requests: as long as necessary for follow-up, and afterwards a maximum of 24 months for administrative follow-up.
  • Technical/security logs: typically 6 months.
  • Analytics (Fathom): We retain aggregated/analytics data for up to 36 months to analyse trends and seasonal effects.
  • Advertising measurement (Google Ads): We retain data for up to 24 months to analyse trends.

7. Modules

7.1 Web hosting and email (Combell)

We use web hosting and email services from Combell. Combell processes personal data in the context of hosting, security and technical service provision. Combell does not use data for its own purposes, except where necessary for providing and securing their services.

7.2 Consent management (CookieYes)

We use CookieYes to register and apply your cookie preferences. CookieYes helps us to activate cookies and (marketing) tags only when you have given consent for this. You can always adjust your preferences via the cookie settings on the website.

7.3 Analytics (Fathom)

We use Fathom Analytics to gain insight into the use of the website (e.g. pages that are visited, general origin). This analysis helps us to improve the website.

Note: the concrete cookie/tracking settings depend on your Fathom configuration (self-hosted or via Fathom, cookieless or not). If necessary, refer here to the Cookie Policy where the technical details are described.

7.4 Advertising and conversion measurement (Google Ads + Google Tag Manager + Consent Mode)

We may use Google Ads to display advertisements and to measure which actions visitors perform on the website (for example a contact request). For this purpose, tags may be loaded via Google Tag Manager.

Consent:
This advertising and conversion measurement only takes place after you have accepted marketing cookies/consent via the cookie banner.

7.5 Protection against spam and abuse (Cloudflare Turnstile)

To protect our forms and website against spam, abuse and automated bots, we use Cloudflare Turnstile, a service of Cloudflare, Inc.

Turnstile checks whether an interaction on our website originates from a human and not from an automated system. For this purpose, certain technical data may be processed, such as:

  • IP address
  • browser and device characteristics
  • interaction data with the website

This data may be processed by Cloudflare in order to perform the security check. Turnstile does not use tracking cookies for advertising or marketing purposes.

The processing takes place on the basis of our legitimate interest in protecting our website and forms against spam, abuse and automated attacks.

More information about how Cloudflare processes personal data can be found in Cloudflare’s privacy policy:
https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/

7.6 Contact forms

When you fill in a form, we process the data you enter (e.g. name, email, telephone, message) to handle your request and to contact you.
