A new website and complete rebranding for a scrap merchant

A Business Without a Website

Back in 2016, we designed and developed a new website for a scrap merchant in Temse. And to make that website more visible, we also implemented a new SEO strategy.

The Challenge

At the start of our project, this client’s visibility was close to non-existent, not surprising seeing as their website only had one page and no content.
We developed a new website with a modern look and feel, and integrated an online calculator that immediately gives visitors an idea of the value of their scrap metal.

Remarkable Results

In the first year of the project, we significantly improved the online visibility of the website. Whereas the old one would only pop up in search results when someone used the company name in their Google query, the new one reached the Google top 10 for 297 keywords, top 30 for 341, and top 50 for 365. And in 2018, we decided to rebuild the website using WordPress and the Avada Framework.
The visitor numbers saw a similar trend. They grew steadily over the first year and reached about 200 visitors a day. Towards the end of 2021, that number even grew to 300 visitors a day.

Rebranding Without Reset [UPDATE 2022]

At the end of 2021, this client came to us asking for help with a complete rebranding. They were changing the company name and logo, so naturally, the domain name also had to change. Our main concern here was to not loose the SEO history we had built over the years, seeing as the majority of visitors were lead to the website by our SEO efforts. Ranking higher in Google is one thing, keeping those rankings is something else entirely.

To kickstart the project, we designed a new logo and website in line with the new brand identity. We then performed an in-depth analysis of their visibility at the time of the project, and set up a detailed redirect map. During the migration process, we took care to point Googlebot in the direction of the new website and pages to transfer the history from the old website to the new one. And the result speaks for itself!

The new website was published about 3 weeks ago, and the online visibility has even increased. The old website was visible in SERPs for 317 relevant keywords, the new one has reached the Google top 10 for 344 relevant keywords.

Also in those 3 months, visitor numbers have once again risen to what they were before the migration, and even surpassed that level. The last month, we saw 350 visitors on the new website.

Mission accomplished!
