IP-Adress
An IP-address is a unique set of numbers (and/or letters) which identifies and localises a device or server in a network or on the internet. IP, short for Internet Protocol, has two versions.
IPv4
IPv4 is the most commonly used one today, it is made up of 4 sets of numbers, divided by full stops (185.107.80.231).
IPv6
IPv6 is the most recent version of the protocol and is made up of 8 sets of numbers and/or letters, divided by colons (2001:0DC8:E004:0001:0000:0000:0000:F00A).
